Description of Persian Cat Breed

Persians
are a long haired beautiful cat with open pansy-like faces.  They are the number one breed in popularity. Their personalities are very sweet and gentle.  They adapt to most households once they settle into their new environment.  Persians are creatures of habit.  They are most comfortable at home in an atmosphere of security and serenity, but with love and reassurance the Persian can easily adapt to the most boisterous of households.

They are quiet, with the sweetest meow.  They use their large delightful eyes to communicate. Persians make great companions for people of all ages.  Persians have short heavily-boned legs to support their broad, short bodies. For the most part Persians are not jumpers or climbers. Persians are playful without being to rambunctious. When relaxing, you will most likely find the Persian curled up with their humans.

The Persian coat is long and flowing requiring proper maintenance and daily combing is a must.  The metal comb works great to eliminate tangles without promoting static. Routine baths to degrease the coat is necessary to keep a Persian in pristine condition.  A trip to the groomer or do-it-yourself baths are necessary even for the cleanest of Persians. Persians come in an astonishing number of colors, which are divided into seven color divisions for purposes of competition. Those are:

Solid Color Division
Silver and Golden Division
Shaded and Smoke Division
Tabby Division
Parti-Color Division (blue cream, tortoiseshell)
Bi-Color Division
Himalayan

Keeping a Persian indoors is a must.  Persians are too trusting to expose them to the dangers of outdoor life.  Keeping a Persian indoors also keeps them safe from exposure to disease and parasites. With proper veterinary care a Persian can live easily 15 years. Persian breeders work to keep healthy bloodlines and to breed hardy and healthy cats that are not prone to illness as well as respiratory infections.  The large eyes of the Persians to have a fair amount of tearing so daily facial care is a necessity.  If you do this on a regular basis your Persian will gladly accept the daily washings.

Pricing on Persians varies from breeder to breeder but generally the pricing on an Persians depends on type, applicable markings and bloodlines.

Typically breeders of all breeds of kittens release their kittens somewhere between twelve and sixteen weeks of age. The reasoning behind keeping a kitten until after twelve weeks is that kittens have had their basic inoculations. This gives them time to develop the physical and social stability needed to make a smooth transition into their new environment.  It is never recommended that a breeder release a kitten before twelve weeks of age as the kittens need this time to develop properly. Releasing a kitten prior to twelve weeks of age is against the law in many states.  It is also recommended that you keep all pedigreed cats and kittens indoors and that they be spayed or neutered.  Cats and kittens of all ages also need suitable surfaces for scratching, such as scratching posts.  Scratching is a natural behavior of the cat breed and declawing a cat is not recommended and is not accepted by the Cat Fanciers Association.

Persian cat grooming tips

How To Use Groomer's Goop Products to keep the coat of your Persian cat clean and looking beautiful: Degreaser, Shampoo and Glossy Coat Conditioner

The best way to use Groomer's Goop Degreaser is to work it into your Persians dry coat. Work the Groomer's Goop Degreaser cream or liquid into the coat of your Persian cat or kitten until each strand of hair is fully coated with the Goop Degreaser.  Ensure each hair is fully coated by working each hair through your fingers as if you were making small circles with your thumb and fingers.
Once you massage the Groomer's Goop into the entire coat , head to toe, bib area, behind the ears and anywhere else the coat is clumped together.  Paying special attention to the legs, ruff and pant area of the animal, the under side of the cat or dog should also be degreased.  The armpit area accumulates the body oils and needs attention as well.  In cats, pay special attention to the area behind and under their ears as these areas are more prone to be oily.

Leave on for approximately five minutes in order for the product to penetrate and remove the excess oil from the coat. Once the coat is fully saturated with the Groomer's Goop Degreaser, then start applying the Groomer's Goop Shampoo and working this onto the top of the groomer's goop degreaser.  When you apply the Groomer's Goop Shampoo this will add moisture content to the cat or kittens coat and make the working of the Groomer's Goop Degreaser easier.  Once you have worked the shampoo onto the cat or kittens coat, you will then want to rinse the coat thoroughly.  After the coat is thoroughly rinses, you will want to repeat the shampoo step with the Groomer's Goop Pet Shampoo.

Once you have repeated the shampoo step, you will want to rinse, rinse, rinse.  After the coat of the cat or kitten is thoroughly rinsed, apply the Groomer's Goop Glossy Coat Conditioner.  The conditioner will leave your pets coat soft, shiny and in perfect condition.

Groomer's Goop is the professionals choice to remove oils from coats of cats like Himalayan, Persian, Maine Coon cats. It is also the breeders' and groomer's choice for power cleaning all long haired dogs.
